"God being in and behind everything I do"
SCRIPTURE
Acts 19: 13-17 Some itinerant Jewish exorcists who happened to be in town at the time tried their hand at what they assumed to be Paul's "game." They pronounced the name of the Master Jesus over victims of evil spirits, saying, "I command you by the Jesus preached by Paul!" The seven sons of a certain Sceva, a Jewish high priest, were trying to do this on a man when the evil spirit talked back: "I know Jesus and I've heard of Paul, but who are you?" Then the possessed man went berserk—jumped the exorcists, beat them up, and tore off their clothes. Naked and bloody, they got away as best they could.
It was soon news all over Ephesus among both Jews and Greeks. The realization spread that God was in and behind this.
OBSERVATION
God is in and behind this... In my life and through actions I've come to realize that it all doesn't quite work if God is not in and behind it. I can run around trying to "fix" things, but I will always fall short. What is God requiring from me? What is He asking of me? Finding that out is the beginning of life and success.
APPLICATION
In life's situations, I really need to understand and know what God is saying and wanting! Find out what He's desires are for this season in my life; and in every day work.
PRAYER
God You know I'm stubborn and want to bring the best for you - what I think that might be. This would be hard for me, but Lord I need to learn to depend all my work on You. My daily actions need to be what You desire. You also know that that leads me with this feeling of "it being restricting and not fun"; and I know that stems from the relationship I had with my father and how I needed to act when he was in the room. God, I know You are not a God that's a fun killer, but my past experiences have lead me to sometimes think that that might be so. I want to see who You really are God and not through my brokenness. I pray Lord that I will please You in being obedient to Your call! In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
