READ: Deut. 13-15; Gal. 1
Topic: Obedience
SCRIPTURE:
Deut 13:4
You are to follow only GOD, your God, hold him in deep reverence, keep his commandments, listen obediently to what he says, serve him—hold on to him for dear life!
Gal 1:13-16
I'm sure that you've heard the story of my earlier life when I lived in the Jewish way. In those days I went all out in persecuting God's church. I was systematically destroying it. I was so enthusiastic about the traditions of my ancestors that I advanced head and shoulders above my peers in my career. Even then God had designs on me. Why, when I was still in my mother's womb he chose and called me out of sheer generosity! Now he has intervened and revealed his Son to me so that I might joyfully tell non-Jews about him.
OBSERVATION: God has a purpose and calling for me, for everyone! When I keep His commandments, listen obediently to what He says to me, serve Him – hold on to Him for dear life – that’s when I discover my purpose. I believe that my purpose unfolds everyday, the closer I walk with Him, the more I become like Him and the more I am what He desires me to be.
This is a life full of adventure and rewards! The reward is knowing I’m in His will and walking out my salvation, being in the center of His will for my life.
APPLICATION:
There are so many things in my life I can do “better” at. When I obey Him, the fruit of my life will be more pure!
PRAYER:
“Lord, prepare me, to be sanctuary. Pure and holy, tried and true. With thanksgiving, I’ll be a living, sanctuary for You! I’ve missed the mark Lord, in many ways. Help me to keep Your commandments, to listen obediently to what You say, to serve You and hold on to You for dear life! In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.”
