“The Higher the Building, the deeper the foundation!”

READ: 2 Ki 21; 2 Chr 33; Jn 4

Topic: Spirit and Truth

SCRIPTURE:
Jn 4:21-24 "Believe me, woman, the time is coming when you Samaritans will worship the Father neither here at this mountain nor there in Jerusalem. You worship guessing in the dark; we Jews worship in the clear light of day. God's way of salvation is made available through the Jews. But the time is coming—it has, in fact, come—when what you're called will not matter and where you go to worship will not matter. It's who you are and the way you live that count before God. Your worship must engage your spirit in the pursuit of truth. That's the kind of people the Father is out looking for: those who are simply and honestly themselves before him in their worship. God is sheer being itself—Spirit. Those who worship him must do it out of their very being, their spirits, their true selves, in adoration."

OBSERVATION:
Pursuing God! My lifestyle must pursue Him, then my worship off stage will reflect my worship on stage. I will never forget my Year for Christ (1995), when I was told that my off stage “appearance” is more important than my on stage appearance. I can’t be a different person at different times – that’s NOT truth… and reading this scripture God says that we must worship Him in Spirit and Truth. Do I pursue Him in Truth? And even though I make mistakes, do I long to live in Truth and pursue that with all my heart?

APPLICATION:
I WILL LIVE TO PURSUE HIM IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH! This means I need to obey! I can't always hear but not follow through! That’s like the man building his house on the sand and when the storm comes, his house won’t stand.

PRAYER:
“Lord, thank You for Your grace. Thank You Lord that You are not content with the way I am. Thank You God that You want to use me (us). Thank You for Your patients. Spirit of God, help me to pursue You with all my heart in Spirit and in Truth! In the Name of Jesus, Amen.”
