READ: Gen. 20-22; Luke 8
Topic: sacrifice & seizing
SCRIPTURE:
Gen 22:1-2 “After all this, God tested Abraham. God said, ‘Abraham!’ ‘Yes?’ answered Abraham. ‘I’m listening.’ He said, ‘Take your dear son Isaac whom you love and go to the land of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains that I’ll point out to you.’”
Lk 8:15 “But the seed in the good earth – these are the good-hearts who seize the Word and hold on no matter what, sticking with it until there’s a harvest.”
OBSERVATION:
The first passage in Genesis: - God is asking to lay song writing on His altar! And even though I’ve not known ‘song writing’ as Abraham knew Isaac, I know that I can not hold onto this aspect. And a definite yes is my answer!
Second passage in Luke: a reminder to take God’s Word, hold on to it until there’s a harvest, that’s what God longs from us! Seize His Word!
APPLICATION:
First, lay song writing on the altar! Secondly, seize His Word until there’s a harvest!
PRAYER:
“Lord Jesus, thank You for Your Word today. I willingly sacrifice song writing on the altar this morning. Lord, I know it comes from You – life-changing songs. And I pray that I would seek after You firstly; and that song writing would come from You! Lord thank You for Your Word; and I pray that You would mold my heart to seize after Your Word! In the Name of Jesus Christ, I pray, Amen!”
