READ: 1 Sam 15,16; 1 Chr 5; Mt 1
Topic: spiritual reality
SCRIPTURE:
1 Sam 15:35 But God was sorry he had ever made Saul king in the first place.
1 Sam 15:22,23 But Samuel replied: "Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the LORD? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams. For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, he has rejected you as king
1 Sam 16:7 But God told Samuel, "Looks aren't everything. Don't be impressed with his looks and stature. I've already eliminated him. God judges persons differently than humans do. Men and women look at the face; God looks into the heart.
1 Sam 16:13 Samuel took his flask of oil and anointed him, with his brothers standing around watching. The Spirit of God entered David like a rush of wind, God vitally empowering him for the rest of his life.
OBSERVATION:
I don’t want God to be sad about “placing a call on my life” for a worship leader. I want to please Him in all I do. And I realize I can “seek” better. I can seek after God’s heart “better”.
This is a spiritual calling God has placed on me, why do seek with physical eyes? I should seek to look with my spiritual eyes. “Open them God so I can see the way You see. May I lead with spiritual eyes, walk with spiritual eyes and do with spiritual eyes. This ‘spiritual journey’ is more real than anything I’ll every experience in my life! You are real and You saw my heart, anointed me. It has changed my life – and will change the way I think, move and behave.”
APPLICATION:
Practicing my spiritual eyes and ears.
PRAYER:
“Lord I love You for loving me. Thank You for changing me, for taking my heart in Your hands and breathing life into it! I would not be here if it wasn’t for You. I will never be what You want me to be without You. I love You and desire You. I ask You to open my ears and eyes to REALITY. May I walk as the men of old that walked in Your footprints. May I please You Lord! And as I breathe my last breath on earth, may I know that I lived this life on earth for You – SOLELY for You! In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.”
