READ: Job 1,2; Acts 6,7
Topic: watching my mouth and attitude!
SCRIPTURE:
Job 2:7-9 “Satan left God and struck Job with terrible sores. Job was ulcers and scabs from head to foot. They itched and oozed so badly that he took a piece of broken pottery to scrape himself, then went and sat on a trash heap, among the ashes. His wife said, ‘Still holding on to your precious integrity, are you? Curse God and be done with it!’ He told her, ‘you're talking like an empty-headed fool. We take the good days from God—why not also the bad days’?”
OBSERVATION:
What devotion! Going through tough times did not make Job stop praising and honoring God. What is coming out of MY mouth during times of struggle and frustration? Times when I’m not at my best, what coming out of my mouth?!
APPLICATION:
Take note of what I talk about during times when I’m not at my best. Ask God to place a guard in front of my mouth. I want my mouth to only honor Him.
PRAYER:
“Lord, I’m very weak. Place a guard in front of my mouth. Help me to see how it affects things and people around me. I pray Lord that You will help me to honor You with my mouth always. I do not want to grieve You Holy Spirit. I ask Your forgiveness for my foolishness and I pray that You’ll help me consciously to be aware of what I’m doing! In the Name of Jesus Christ, I pray this, Amen.”
