READ: Ezra 4; Ps 129; Lk 9
“Driver!”
Topic: God leading, I follow
SCRIPTURE:
Lk 9:23-26 …“Anyone who intends to come with Me has to let Me lead. You’re not in the driver’s set – I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how. Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to finding yourself, your true self. What good would it do to get everything you want and lose yourself, the real you? If any of you is embarrassed with me and the way I’m leading you, know that the Son of Man will be far more embarrassed with you when he arrives in all his splendor in company with the Father and the holy angels.”
OBSERVATION:
Jesus speaking to his disciples knew what times were ahead of them – knowing that He would be crucified. He knew that they would be embarrassed of Him when asked if they knew Him.
Following Jesus I need to let Him lead me! I’m a passenger and He’s the driver! How wonderful to know that I’m driving with Jesus – Him being in control – He is the most capable driver ever (why would I want to drive?)!
With Him leading: self-sacrifice is the way to finding my true/real self.
APPLICATION:
Let Him drive! Make a conscience decision every day to let Him lead. In times of “panic”/having to make a decision, make a conscience decision to let HIM lead – ask, and I will receive.
PRAYER:
“Lord thank You for being the driver! I pray that You would help me through the day to choose Your way, to stop and ask Your way. Lord thank You that You have been speaking to me, showing the way. I pray that I would learn to hear Your voice more and more. Help me to spend more time with You so that I can learn to KNOW Your voice more clearly. In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.”
