“Lead me to the cross!”

READ: Jer 3,4; Jn 11

Topic: Dying to my ambitions and finding true LIFE!

SCRIPTURE:
Jn 11:25,26,40 “You don’t have to wait for the End, I am, right now, Resurrection and Life. The one who believes in Me, even though he or she dies, will live. And everyone who lives believing in me does not ultimately die at all. Do you believe this?
Jesus looked at her in the eye. Didn’t I tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?”

OBSERVATION:
This scripture refers much to literal dying – and Jesus explains eternal life within Him. But what this scripture spoke to me was, dying in the flesh – dying of myself – my desire and my “longing”. This (to me) is not a painful death, but rather a thankful death! Rather than walking around foolishly believing I have it all figured out (“what God has told me; and having to make that happen”) – my drive no longer exists in working to accomplish that. And when I do not accomplish “that” (what God has set for me to do), I do not feel this overwhelming sense of failure. My “working” now is dying to myself – making Jesus all that I want and need. My center focus is Him – my core and my longing. How thankful I am that God did not put me on a “pedestal” looking all stupid, but rather He brought me to this place. He cared enough to lead me to the cross. Verse 40 shows it so beautifully, then when I believe Him leading me to my death, He will be glorified.

APPLICATION:
Focus on Him being the Center! Always stopping to ask Him to lead me to the cross.

PRAYER:
“Lord, I’m so thankful today for You caring for me. I don’t want to think I have it all figured out, but rather I pray that You would keep me on my knees. No matter what Lord, I pray for Your will. I could never be happy, truly happy without Your will in my life. I thank You Lord for caring for me all these years – always planting me in the right place at the right time… and for showing me the condition of my heart. I’m so happy here right now Lord and wish I could just stay here. But I realize Lord that life goes on. Business will come, sometimes even distractions, but I pray – LEAD ME TO THE CROSS! In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.”
